Before you start

  • Must hold an active, unexpired Provisional Driving Licence (PDL).
  • Must have completed the full NTSA driving school training module under an accredited institution.
  • Your driving school must digitally upload your completion profile to your NTSA profile before the portal unlocks booking options.

Documents you need

  • Your original National Identity Card (or valid passport).
  • A printed copy of your active Provisional Driving License (PDL).
  • Your printed NTSA eCitizen driving test booking slip.

Step by step

  1. Sign into the NTSA eCitizen dashboard

    Access your verified personal eCitizen profile account and select the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) service portal option.

  2. Select the driving test booking option

    Navigate to the "Driving License Services" section menu, click on the "Book Driving Test" link path, and verify your test class details.

  3. Choose an examination center and date

    Select your preferred regional NTSA examination center from the available dropdown menu and pick an open calendar date and time slot.

  4. Pay the examination fee

    Choose your preferred eCitizen payment tool option (M-Pesa, card, or direct bank transfer) and authorize the flat fee transaction clearance.

  5. Print your booking slip

    Return to your dashboard application history layout panel, open the processed transaction record, and download your physical examination entry sheet.

Office visits

What happens if I fail my driving test exam?
If you fail your practical or theoretical test, you must wait a mandatory 14 days to clear your records. After that period, you can log back into eCitizen, pay a fresh booking fee of Ksh 650, and reserve the next available date.
Can I change my driving test appointment date or location?
Yes, but modifications must be submitted via the portal at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled slot. If you miss your window or skip the exam, your booking fee is forfeited.
How long do I have to wait to get my results?
Your examiner updates your status digitally on the testing day. Approved test results typically reflect on your eCitizen profile layout within 24 hours.
