About
Sen. Mohamed Abass Sheikh is the Senator for Wajir County. He won election to the Senate of Kenya in August 2022 as a candidate for the United Democratic Movement (UDM) party. Before becoming a senator, he built a career in agricultural administration and livestock marketing, serving as a branch manager at the Agricultural Finance Office and later as the chief executive officer of the Kenya Livestock Marketing Council. He entered elective politics in 2013 and served as the Member of Parliament for Wajir East Constituency until 2017. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management from Egerton University and a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Marketing from Erasmus University Rotterdam. In the national legislature, he currently serves as the chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations.
