About
Eric Muriithi Muuga is the cabinet secretary for water, sanitation and irrigation. He was appointed by President William Ruto in August 2024 to lead national water development, sanitation services, and expansion of agricultural irrigation networks. He is a registered professional civil engineer. Before his appointment to the cabinet, Muuga worked primarily as a technical professional in the private and utility engineering sectors. He served as an assistant project engineer at Mangat, I.B. Patel & Partners consulting engineers, where he worked on design, review, and construction management for state-linked sanitation and water programs. He was also an assistant project engineer for infrastructure installations managed by the Kilifi Mariakani Water and Sewerage Company Limited.
