About
Beatrice Asukul Moe serves as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of East African Community (EAC), the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs) and Regional Development. She assumed office on August 8, 2024, following her appointment by President William Samoei Ruto. In this role, she leads Kenya's regional integration policies, cross-border trade initiatives, and socio-economic development programs across arid territories. His mandate focuses on coordinating food security interventions, managing drought resilience strategies, and implementing cross-border peace and development frameworks within the East African bloc. Before her appointment to the Cabinet, Moe built a career in local administration and cross-border diplomacy. She served as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water, Environment and Mineral Resources in the County Government of Turkana. In this regional executive role, she directed policy formulations for sustainable groundwater mapping, environmental protection, and community-inclusive mining regulations. She also served as the Cross-Border Coordinator for the Troika Peace Initiative, where she successfully negotiated communal resource-sharing agreements and conflict-resolution frameworks along the fragile border corridors connecting Kenya, Uganda, and Ethiopia. Earlier in her professional career, Moe worked extensively in the humanitarian and international development sectors. She spent several years designing and executing community development projects for global non-governmental organizations, including Oxfam GB and UNICEF. Her work primarily focused on expanding clean water access, establishing emergency nutrition protocols, and building climate resilience for pastoralist communities in northern Kenya. Moe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. She also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from the United States International University (USIU) Africa.
