(2) A person shall not be required to perform forced labour.

Plain English Explanation

This is a simplified summary prepared by legal scholars to explain this article in clear language. It is not the legal text of the Constitution.

This article completely prohibits slavery and forced labour in Kenya.

It means:
- No person can be owned or treated as a slave.
- No one can be forced to work against their will (except in very limited lawful circumstances such as court-ordered community service).

This is an absolute right — one of the strongest protections in the Bill of Rights.
