County Government Responsibilities
Under the Fourth Schedule of the Constitution, county governments manage key local public infrastructure and amenities including:
- Health services including county referral hospitals, local dispensaries, and pharmacy networks
- Agriculture development, local livestock management, and fisheries protection
- County public roads, localized transport lines, and street lighting installations
- Pre-primary child education (ECD centres) and village polytechnic centers
- Water provision infrastructure, waste sanitation systems, and local environment services
- Trade regulation, licensing systems, and marketplace development
- County spatial planning and land usage approvals
