Rose Museo Mumo serves as the county woman representative for Makueni County. She has held the regional legislative seat for three consecutive terms since her election in the inaugural 2013 devolution polls. In this role, she oversees the local allocation and implementation of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund to support socio-economic development, gender mainstreaming, and youth empowerment networks throughout the county. Within the National Assembly, she contributes to legislative oversight as a member of the Departmental Committee on Social Protection.
Before entering elective parliamentary politics, Mumo spent two decades working as a programme officer for ActionAid Kenya, coordinating rural development initiatives. She also served as the director for the women and children’s department within the Central Kenya Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Additionally, she founded the Ukambani Women Network, a regional umbrella organization coordinating table banking, water harvesting, and self-help income projects for rural women.
Mumo was born in Makueni County. She attended local schools before pursuing higher education. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in development studies and a master of arts degree in project planning and management from the University of Nairobi. She won her first parliamentary election under the Wiper Democratic Movement party ticket, defending her seat successfully under the same party during the 2017 and 2022 general elections.
