About
Eng. Japheth Koome Nchebere, EBS, HSC, served as the fourth Inspector-General of the National Police Service from November 2022 to July 2024. In this role, he was the overall head of the Kenya Police Service and the Administration Police Service. A career police officer with over 30 years of service, he joined the force as a constable in 1991 after graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. He rose through the ranks, holding key command roles including Nairobi Regional Police Commander, Commandant of the National Police Service College at Kiganjo, and Director of Planning, where he spearheaded police housing and modernisation programmes. He resigned from his position as Inspector-General in July 2024.
