About
Davis Kimutai Chirchir is the cabinet secretary for roads and transport, appointed by President William Ruto in August 2024 to oversee state departments for roads and transport. In this role, he leads policy, legal, and regulatory reforms for national infrastructure agencies including ports, railways, airports, and highways. Previously, he served as cabinet secretary for energy and petroleum from 2022 to 2024 under the same administration. Before his appointments under the Ruto administration, Chirchir served as chief of staff in the office of the deputy president. He first entered the cabinet under President Uhuru Kenyatta, serving as cabinet secretary for energy and petroleum from 2013 to 2015. His earlier public service includes working as a commissioner at the Interim Independent Electoral Commission, where he led information technology reforms in voter registration. He also spent many years in corporate management at the Kenya Post and Telecommunication Corporation, where he managed tele-traffic engineering and coordinated the privatization of Telkom Kenya.
