About
Adelina Ndeto Mwau is a Kenyan politician and administrator who served as the chairperson of the board of directors for the Kenyatta International Convention Centre from April 2023 to August 2024. Appointed by President William Ruto, she managed institutional governance and tourism conferencing strategies until her appointment was revoked. Before her appointment to the state corporation, Mwau spent two consecutive terms as the first deputy governor of Makueni County between 2013 and 2022 alongside Governor Kivutha Kibwana. Her early public career includes legislative experience as a nominated member of parliament and assistant minister for labour and human resource development during the administration of President Mwai Kibaki. Outside public office, she has worked as a human rights advocate and community organizer focused on reducing gender-based violence. Mwau was born on 1 August 1952 in Kilungu, located in Makueni County. She attended local schools for her primary and secondary education before training as a professional teacher at Machakos Teachers Training College. She holds a diploma in adult education from the University of Nairobi and a master’s degree in development studies from the International Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands.
