Ministry of Interior and National Administration

The Ministry of Interior and National Administration is responsible for national policies and programmes that maintain internal security, oversee national registration, and coordinate the functions of the National Government at the grassroots level.

What the ministry does
The ministry manages the security infrastructure and administrative services of the Republic of Kenya. Its main responsibilities include:

Internal Security: Formulating and implementing policies related to public safety, including the management of the National Police Service.
National Government Coordination: Overseeing the coordination of government operations and business across counties through the National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs).
Immigration and Citizen Services: Managing the issuance of national identity cards, passports, visas, and work permits, as well as the registration of births and deaths.
Correctional Services: Managing Kenya's prisons and probation services to facilitate the administration of justice and rehabilitation of offenders.
Peacebuilding and Cohesion: Coordinating actors and initiatives focused on conflict management and the promotion of national unity.
Disaster Management: Leading emergency response and coordinating the distribution of relief and humanitarian support during national crises.
Border Management: Overseeing integrated security and operational activities at all marine and terrestrial borders.
